INTRODUCTION

"Kota 2023" (Summit 2023) is a place for unarranged meetings. A geographical (and therewith a material) centre around which spiritual (imaginary, unreal, but only in the sense defined by the already established and generally accepted laws of science and art) worlds arise. Parallel universes in which the idea as the initial concept of everything was born.

Defined ever since Plato (as God-given and a thing in itself*) and developed in detail by Hitchcock as far as film is concerned (through his tendency to present his narrative in image first, and in words only later), it allows for the development of the minimalist principle, according to which everyone works under the same conditions. Anyone not thinking too academically (traditionally, reservedly) or too experimentally (i.e. in a Von-Trierean manner, changing only one ingredient in the mixture), as well as too radically** (The revolution is dead - said Alexander Balanescu once), could recognize, could feel that something was done well and that it would be even better and more valuable if it were original.

In fact, one thus avoids the trap of poorly accepting or evaluating the ones lacking the opportunities to technically structure their work according to their liking, even though the idea of not paying attention to the other components comprising the magic on the screen would be absurd. That, as well as minimalism as an art form, is why we in "Kota 2023" would urge you, at least in the first year, to send your works strictly in DVD format (another experiment - the medium). You could find more details in our next paragraph/link: Concept and Rules.

* Without form and contents, which come latter.
** It is also unrecommendable to make radicalism the starting point of creation.

Oh, well, all this boils down to one simple line: "Grab the camera, set the computer and SHOOT!" :-)
