ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Skopje is the capital of the Republic of Macedonia, a country on the Balkan Peninsula. You could reach it by land (car, bus, train) or air. Skopje has an airport connected to all major European airports, but if you happen to land in any of its neighboring countries (Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Albania), you could get here in a couple of hours using any means of transport.

The climate is Mediterranean. In summer it could go as high as 40 degrees centigrade, and in winter as low as -15. It has over 500,000 inhabitants, mostly Macedonian, but of other nationalities, such as Albanian, Turkish, Serbian, etc., as well. It abounds in interesting tourist attractions, as the Old Bazaar, the Stone Bridge or the St. Panteleimon Monastery, as well as several luxury and a number of cheap hotels, parks, lovely cafes, restaurants offering traditional Macedonian cuisine, night clubs and all the typical features of a modern city.

The local currency is the Macedonian denar, but it is easily convertible in any of the major currencies: euros, American/Canadian/Australian dollars, Swiss francs...
